Factors affecting germination


There are series of factors that affect the germination of a seeds. Some of these factors include the following;

Temperature: There must be the presents of suitable temperature for germination to occur in seed/plant. This is due to the fact that too high or low temperature may hinder germination of a seed.
Viability: The seed must be viable in that a dead seed cannot germinate even when all other necessary conditions are made available.
Water: Water or moisture is another factor that must be present for germination to take place.
Air: Another important factor which affects and plays an important role in the germination process of a seed in the soil is air.
