Land clearing equipment

The equipment that is used for the purpose of land clearing is basically of two categories in nature namely;
  • Traditional/manual equipment
  • Modern land clearing equipment
The basic tools (Traditional/manual equipment) comprise axes, cutlasses or matchets, power saws, diggers, hoes, brush hook and so on. The axe is used for the felling of big trees while matchets or cutlasses are used for small trees and vegetation under growth. Hoes can be used to dig out stump. If the soil is dry and stony, a digger will be useful to complement a hoe or a shovel and matchet or cutlasses. The power saw, is usually powered by two-stroke petrol engine. After piling, it can be used for cross-cutting of the piled felled trees into logs for close – packing.
