Communication Models, Process and Networks in Agricultural Extension Service


Communication models are considered as a symbolic and schematic representation of the relationship which exist or perceived to be in existence in a system. A model is systematic representations which are abstracts and categories, which have certain potentially relevant aspects of a phenomenon. A communication model is a mathematical or verbal representation of the key elements in the communication process. Models are visual representations which help us understand the relationship between different elements associated with a process. The application in a system help to understand the process or phenomenon attached to it.

The variety of models associated with communication process have been formulated by various scholars, some of the models include the David Berlo`s model, Aristotle`s model, the Lasswellian model, the Hub model, the Schramm`s model, the Shanon – Weaver model, the Westley – Maclean model as well as the Weaver – Ness model.
