The purposes of Communication in Agricultural Extension Services

In agricultural extension services, communication takes place most of the time as extension itself is all about communication. If communication is broken down, the whole agricultural organization and the organizational target audience will then suffer. When communication is accurately and thoroughly carried out and timely, the extension organization can then effectively achieve its goal through the communicational process. The communication in which the agricultural extension is involved can be analyzed in order to ascertain when it is effective or not. Communication is said to be effective when the purpose or objectives for which the messages where sent and received have been attained.

In the process of communication in which the extension officer is involved, in the course of carrying out his assignment, a number of different purposes are pursued. In the organization or institution, communication in inter-institutional and in the field, different aims or goals are pursued in such organization in order to achieve the institutional goals.
