Achene


This is a type of simple, dry, hard, and one-seeded indehiscent fruit with seed attached to ovary wall at one point only, but does not adhere to it. An achene also sometimes referred to as akene and occasionally achenium or achenocarp, achenes are monocarpellate and indehiscent (They don’t open at maturity).
Examples of achene are fruits of cannabis, buckwheat and buttercup. These are typical achenes.
