Plant nutrition

The studies of chemical elements that are necessary for growth in plant are plant nutrient, the absence of nutrient in the plant leads to incompletion of the normal life cycle of the plant and the elements are also part of some essential plant constituent or metabolite.
There are seventeen (17) essential plant nutrients. Oxygen and Carbon are absorbed from the air, while other nutrients including water are obtained from the soil. Plant must obtain the following primary macronutrients and secondary macronutrients mineral for growth.

Primary macronutrients; nitrogen (N), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), Secondary macronutrients; sulphur (S), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), the macronutrient silicon (Si), trace minerals; iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) chlorine (Cl), boron (B), sodium (Na), selenium (Se), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn). The macronutrients are in larger quantities and are present in plant tissue in quantities from 0.2% to 4.0%. Micro nutrients are present in plant tissue in quantities measured in parts per million, ranging from 5 to 200 ppm, or less than 0.02% dry weight.
