The followings
are characteristics which must be found in an ideal fertile soil for the proper
growth of plants as well as some agricultural practices.
- Good water holding capacity
- Easily tilled for crop production (light soil)
- Good granular (highly spheroidal) structure
- Availability of the essential elements required forms and amount
- High cation exchange capacity
- Adequate content of humus.
