CARE GIVEN TO VEGETABLE DURING TRANSPORTATION

Harvested vegetable must be moved from the point of cultivation or production to the market place for sale. These two points (farm and the market) may be within walking distance or may be far away from each other so as to require transportation. Several factors reduce the quality of vegetable during transportation. These factors include bruises, rough handling, poor or lack of package as well as bad roads.

In conclusion, the harvesting, handling and transportation stage of vegetable be summed up as a provision of tender loving care, in a well develop farm organization where cold stores and refrigerated transportation may be available, this may be the most important factor in raising the quality of vegetable in the market place.
