The chief
agricultural extension officer and other officers in agricultural extension
organization initiate communications at intervals for the purpose of achieving
agricultural and rural development objectives. They can prevent the various
barriers of communication if they take the following points or suggestions.
- Be sure your actions support your communication process
- Take the opportunity to convey something that will be of help or value to the receivers
- Be mindful, while you communicate the overtones as well as the basic content of your message
- Remove inter-group hostility from the process
- Develop effective communication skills, as well as listening skills
- Ensure to time messages properly
- Regulate information flow and use the informal communication channels
- Use clear and concise words during communication
- Encourage feedback
- Select proper channels to convey messages, that is, use the channel that is most appropriate for the situation
- Use face-to-face communication whenever it’s necessary
- Use repetition of the message if complicated or necessary
- Follow up important verbal discussion with a tone
- Be sensitive to educational or officer status
- Establish proper communication climate be establishing mutual trust between you and the receiver.
