Acetogenic bacteria


Prokaryotic organism that uses carbonate as a terminal electron acceptor and produces acetic acid as a waste product. They are bacteria that are specialized group of strictly anaerobic bacteria that are ubiquitous in nature and essential for the global carbon cycle.
