Factors leading to soil unproductivity


Soil productivity means the ability to produce crops/plants which are planted on it. Soil unproductivity means inability of the soil to produce crops/plants which are growing on it. Productivity is a combination of favorable environmental conditions and fertile soil.

There are several factors which contribute to soil unproductivity and if not control, it will be very detrimental to agricultural yield. These soil unproductivity factors amongst others are;
  • Leaching
  • Erosion
  • Adverse climate condition
  • Soil acidity or pH effect
  • Compaction, compression and hard setting of soils
