The Mouldboard
plough is a primary tillage implement which cuts; partially or completely then
inverting the layer of the soil buries surface material and also pulverizes the
soil. The part of the plough that directly does the engagement to the soil is
called the bottom or body, the number of the bottom or body varies from one to
five depending on the field capacity. Each of these bottoms is attached to the
plough beam which forms the basic structure of the mouldboard plough. The bottom
or body applies to the complete assembly of the soil-working parts which is required
for each furrows. The bottom has various sizes like 30cm, 36cm, and 41cm and so
on which in turn determines the sizes of the furrows.
The main
parts of the bottom of the mouldboard plough are mouldboard, share, landside
and frog. The bottom turns the soil and cuts a trench called furrow.
