Subsoiler

The subsoiler is built heavier than that of the chisel plough and it penetrates more depth than the latter. It can penetrate up to a depth of 90cm and hence, necessitate the use of a tractor of 60-85 hp horsepower to pull a single standard ripping through a hard soil up to the depth. This hard layer of soil is called hard pan or plough sole. Subsoiling is conducted commonly with the aid of shank paths corresponding to subsequent crop rows.

The standards of a subsoiler are attached to the regular tool bars with provisions to be mounted or trailed. The subsoiler is equipped with widely space shanks either in-line or staggered on a V-frame.
