The Disc and
Mouldboard Ridger/Bedder consists of a pair or more disc/mouldboard ridging
bodies which are suitable for attaching to the main frame so that the two
ridging bodies in each pair can simultaneously throw soil in both right-hand as
well as left-hand direction to form a ridge. The disc ridger may employ large
discs or short disc gangs with two or more of equal or varying diameters with
each gang throwing soil in one direction and followed by another disc gang
throwing soil in another direction (opposite direction). The mouldboard
ridger/bedder employs mouldboard lister bottoms. The sizes of the concave disc
or mouldboard lister bottoms and the setting determines, to a greater degree
the extent in which the size and shape of the ridge is formed. Most multi-row
ridger/bedders make use of discs with small diameters to avert excessive implement
draught in the process.
