PUBLIC AWARENESS IN AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS


Public awareness can be said to be as the process of informing people about an organization and its engaged activities. This is the process of communication with people about agricultural organization and its activities. Agricultural and rural development organization passes information to the public about themselves and the activities in which they are involve in. In public awareness, the efforts to cover the organization in the media influence policy makers, and build and maintain good corporate reputation in the eyes of a group of stakeholders such as government partners, donors, clients and others results to the public.

Public awareness programme is meant to maintain and improve the understanding and cooperation between the agricultural and rural development organizations and the members of the public that are of most relevance to their work or the organization. These programmes of awareness are carried out for specific purposes as well as general purpose. The process of achieving this understanding and cooperation starts with selling an encouraging image that best represents the organization.

The perception of the different public about an organization entails that the agricultural and rural development organizations interact with the various public through the media by personal interaction, or orally by these, the public develop their perceptions on them, though the perception of the public’s may not always be accurate, it creates the image which is considered as reality.

The management of agricultural development organization should therefore, make sure that the various public that come in contact with it have a positive impression about the organization.
